Obituary

Guilford- Nicholas R. Junjulas, 79, of Tater Lane, a resident of the area since 1978 died peacefully early Monday morning, December 3, 2018 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Junjulas was born in the Bronx on January 11, 1939 the son of Perry and Helen (Pulkowski) Junjulas. He was raised and educated in the Bronx and was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School also in the Bronx, Class of 1957.

He worked most of his career in the footwear industry retiring as Vice President of Intershoe on Long Island in 2003. Previously he had been employed at Marx & Newman Shoe Company in New York City and for the Famolare Shoe Company in Brattleboro where he was Vice President. In his earlier years he worked for the Uniroyal Company based in New York City. Additionally, for many years he served as President of the Credit Association of New York.

Steadfast in his walk of faith he was a devout Catholic and a longtime communicant of Saint Michaels’ Roman Catholic Church. He was an active volunteer at Brigid’s Kitchen and also volunteered at the American Legion Post #5 working the weekly Friday night Suppers.

Of his leisure time activities, he enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and cooking evening meals. He was a loyal New York Yankees and Giants fan. Mr. Junjulas also cherished time spent with his family especially with his grandchildren.

On June 17, 1961 in the Bronx he was married to Dena Zambri who predeceased him on September 5, 1992.

Survivors include two sons, Nicholas Junjulas and his wife Nicole of Williston, Vermont and James Junjulas of Orlando, Florida, a daughter, Janet Derosia and her husband Scott of Brattleboro, three grandchildren, Alex, Maddy and Grady and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, George and James Junjulas and a sister Linda Junjulas.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Michaels’ Catholic Church with Fr. Justin Baker, pastor, celebrant. Committal Rites and burial will follow in Saint Michaels’ Parish Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Saint Michaels’ School, 48 Walnut Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301 in care of Elaine Beam, Principal, or to the Brigid’s Kitchen Renovation Fund, 47 Walnut Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
