Brattleboro- Alta Jean, "A.J." Revilla, 92, of Greenleaf Street, a longtime resident of Brattleboro died Tuesday night, November 26, 2013 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family following an extended illness.
Mrs. Revilla was born in Oneonta, New York on May 24, 1921 the daughter of James and Lucy (Tyler) Ferguson. She was raised and educated in Poultney, Vermont graduating from Poultney High School. She later graduated from Green Mountain College where she received her Associates degree, later earning her R.N. degree from Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Mrs. Revilla went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of Vermont, Burlington.
Mrs. Revilla worked at Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn where she served as head nurse of the hospital's emergency department.
She was a devoted homemaker whose life centered around her family.
Mrs. Revilla was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a longtime member of Lake Spofford Family Recreation, Inc. She also volunteered for many years with the Windham County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
With her husband she had attended Saint Michael's Episcopal Church in Brattleboro.
Of her leisure time activities she enjoyed playing tennis, skiing, playing bridge and time shared with her family, especially her grandchildren.
On May 29, 1949 at Saint John's Episcopal Church in Poultney she was married to Richard Revilla who survives.
Besides her faithful and loving husband of 64 years she leaves three sons, Bruce Revilla and wife Sue of Capistrano Beach, CA, Craig Revilla and wife Kathy of Williston, VT and John Revilla of Langdon, N.H., one daughter, Jean Mee and husband Jim of Rutland, VT, one sister Olive "Greta" Jones of Chesterfield, N.H., seven grandchildren and three grandchildren.
Additionally she leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, Ernest Ferguson.
Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home this morning, Saturday, November 30'Th from 10 A.M. until 12:00 Noon. Burial in the Revilla family lot in Morningside Cemetery will be private for the immediate family only.
