Brattleboro- Eileen Frances Daniels, 90 of Quails Hill Road in Brattleboro died Monday night, December 26, 2016 at the Thompson House Nursing Home.
Mrs. Daniels was born in Brattleboro on July 29, 1926 the daughter of Howard and Caroline (Gallager) LaDuke. She was raised and educated in town and was a graduate of Brattleboro High School, Class of 1944.
She had been employed as a telephone operator at the Brattleboro Retreat where she retired from following 52 years of faithful service with the hospital. Previously she worked for New England Telephone Company as an operator in the Brattleboro office.
Mrs. Daniel's was a communicant of Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the American Legion, Brattleboro Post #5 Auxiliary. For several years she was an active volunteer at Brattleboro Area Hospice.
She enjoyed traveling and time shared with her family especially her grandchildren.
On June 7, 1947 in Brattleboro she was married to Francis Daniels who predeceased her in August of 1981.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Hoyer and Jean Gibson both of Brattleboro and a son, John Daniels of Marlboro, one sister, Barbara Pollica of Lebanon, N.H. and five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Additional she leaves two nieces and a nephew.
Graveside committal services will be conducted in the family lot in Locust Ridge Cemetery on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Jutin Baker of St. Michael's Catholic Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name may be made to Brattleboro Area Hospice, 191 Canal Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301.
Eileen's family wish to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the staff and management at the Thompson House for the excellent care and thoughtfulness shown to her during her stay at the facility.
