Brattleboro – Eloise Sylvia Ross died April 20, 2017 in Brattleboro, Vt. Eloise (Ellie) was born October 16, 1945, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Murray Ross and Martha (Levine) Ross.
She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in D.C., a member of the class of 1963. She attended Smith College and obtained her B.A. from New York University. After graduation she worked in publishing in New York City before moving to Brattleboro in the mid 1970's. She loved writing and had plans for writing both books and for the stage. She also traveled extensively throughout the United States, and visited South and Central America, Europe and Asia.
For more than 15 years she was a faithful volunteer at Loaves & Fishes community kitchen at Centre Congregational Church helping to serve meals to all who needed them.
Ellie is survived by her brother, Peter Ross of Arlington, Va.; nieces, Jessica Ross of Albany, Calif. and Naomi Ross of Sacramento, Calif.; and her faithful feline companion, Flopsy.
