Keene, NH- Robert Paul, “Bob” Lavallee, 72 formerly of Pine Street in Brattleboro died Wednesday morning, July 26, 2017 at Westwood Healthcare Center in Keene where he had been a resident for the past twelve years.
Bob was born in Brattleboro on January 16, 1945 the son of Rene and Antoinette (LeBlond) Lavallee. He was raised in Brattleboro attending Saint Michael’s Parochial School and was a graduate of Saint Michael’s High School, Class of 1963.
He proudly served his country in the US Air Force stationed in Detroit and was honorably discharged from active service on June 19, 1967. Bob returned home to Brattleboro and later graduated from Saint Joseph’s College in Bennington where he received his Associates degree in Accounting.
Bob had been employed at the former BookPress in Brattleboro retiring early due to the progression of his illness.
He was a lifelong communicant of Saint Michael’s Roman Catholic Church and held membership in the American Legion, Brattleboro Post #5 and the VFW Carl M. Dessaint Post #1034.
Bob was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. He especially enjoyed travel and attending family gatherings. He will be remembered for his spirit of friendship, positive attitude and great sense of humor.
Survivors include one sister, Elaine Rogers and her husband Doug of Vernon, one brother, Ronald “Buzz” Lavallee also of Vernon and several nieces and nephews as well as his extended family at Westwood in Keene.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday (8/5) at 11:00 AM at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church with Fr. Justin Baker, pastor, celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow in Saint Michael’s Parish Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s name may be made to Saint Michael’s School, 48 Walnut Street, Brattleboro, VT 05301, in care of Elaine Beam, principal.
