West Wardsboro- Jesse James, “Pipewrench” Parsons, Jr, 74, of Route 100 in West Wardsboro died Tuesday morning, August 29, 2017 at Grace Cottage Hospital with his family at his side following a lengthy illness.
Jesse was born in Wilmington on March 10, 1943 the son of Jesse J. and June (Lazelle) Parsons. He was raised in Wilmington where he attended public school. He went on to serve in the Vermont National Guards and soon after attended Vocational School evenings at Mount Anthony High School in Bennington
At the time of his passing he owned and operated Pipewrench Water Systems & Trailer Sales in West Wardsboro. Previously he worked as a licensed plumber for Adams Plumbing Company in Wilmington (1965-1972) where he served his apprenticeship prior to obtaining his professional license.
Active civically, he was a member of the Wardsboro Volunteer Fire Department for 46 years serving as Chief, Assistant Chief and currently was president of the department.
He loved motorcycles, riding and taking trips to the coast of Maine with his wife and friends. With his wife, he held membership in the Red Knights Motorcycle Club and was an active member and current president of the Wardsboro Path Finder’s Snowmobile Club.
Jess was known as a hard worker and devoted family man who enjoyed time spent with his family.
On September 18, 1964 in West Wardsboro he was married to Bette J. Allen who survives.
Besides of faithful and devoted wife of 53 years he leaves one son, Daniel Parsons and his wife Dawn of West Wardsboro, his mother June Parsons of Wilmington, one brother, Kenneth Parsons and wife Jodi of Wilmington, three grandchildren, Shawna Crickmore, Justin Lanouette and Charles Lanounette and three great grandchildren, Dustin, McKenzie and Dale.
Additionally, he leaves several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and his beloved pet Rottweiler “Rambo.”
Graveside committal services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in West Wardsboro Cemetery with Pastor Peter Carlson, officiating. A reception will follow the services to be held at the Stratton Town Hall on the Stratton Arlington Road.
