West Chesterfield, NH- Andrea Juanita Austin of Pond Brook Road, a resident of West Chesterfield since 1978 died peacefully, January 3, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her family following a battle with Glioblastoma, she was 65 years old.
Andrea was born in San Bernardino, CA on May 11, 1952. She was raised and educated in San Bernardino where she attended elementary and high school.
She had been employed as a payroll clerk and benefits coordinator at the Putney School where she retired from her position following 28 dedicated and faithful years with the school. Previously she had been employed at the former Vermont National Bank in Brattleboro.
Active civically, she was an active volunteer at Joan’s Pantry in West Chesterfield, was active with the Chesterfield Senior Lunch Program, and once a month volunteered at Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland.
Andrea was known for her generosity and spirit of friendship always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She had a pleasant, laid back personality, was a very patient person who always wore a big smile.
She enjoyed vacation trips to the coast of Maine, loved to cook going out of her way to prepare some of the most delicious meals. Her life centered around her family and she especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
On November 24, 1973 at the Putney Federated Church she was married to Wayne R. Austin who survives.
Besides her faithful and devoted husband of 44 years she leaves two daughters, Michelle Carr and husband Robert of Salisbury, N.H., Jessica Quarry and husband Phil of Surry, N.H., one son, Erik Austin and wife Lori of Milford, N.H., her six grandchildren, Isabelle, Gabrielle, Jack, Hunter, Acadia and Layla.
Additionally, she is survived by her mother, Juanita Garza Mena of San Bernardino, seven siblings and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother.
Graveside committal services in Freidsam Cemetery in Chesterfield will be conducted in the springtime when the cemetery reopens. A reception will be held in conjunction with the services.
Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home on Wednesday, (1/10) from 4 to 6 P.M.
