Brattleboro - Antoinette (Kiesel) MacRoberts, 86, of Red Clover Commons in Brattleboro,VT, slipped into the arms of Jesus peacefully at Brattleboro Memorial hospital on Sunday morning, February 4, 2018, following a lengthy period of illness.
She was the beloved mother of Karin McCahan, of Tyrone, PA, who is married to Richard, of Heidi McClelland of Brattleboro, who is married to Steve, and of Robert Ellis of Tyrone, and her daughter in law Jody Ellis of Harwich, MA. She was also the deeply loved sister of Karin Deschauer, of Gauting, Germany.
On July 22, 1961, she was married to Robert MacRoberts of Yarmouth, MA. In July of 1966, she and her husband became followers of Jesus, and served their Lord and Savior the rest of their lives.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother Max, and on November 9, 1993, by her husband. She leaves not only her children, but she was “Oma” to Kenneth McCahan, Jason and Farrah McCahan, to Tim and Cher McClelland, Shane and Ruth McClelland, and Ryan and Dana McClelland, to Abbie and Daniel Ellis, Kelly Ellis, and Ryley Ellis. In addition, she leaves 14 great grandchildren, and a great, great grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews.
As a young child, she experienced the terrors of war, often fleeing in the night with her mother and sister. She came to America as a teenage bride, teaching herself English, and becoming a naturalized US citizen on May 13, 1963. While on Cape Cod for more than 40 years, she was actively involved in the Evangelical Baptist Church of South Yarmouth, and then in Vermont, the West Brattleboro Baptist Church.
She found great joy in her pet bird Heitschi, teaching him to speak many phrases. She was a wonderful woman, and a great friend to many.
There will be a celebration of her life Saturday, February 10, at 1:00, at the West Brattleboro Baptist Church, 979 Western Ave, Brattleboro, VT.
