Obituary

Ashuelot- Linda E. Crowell, 75 of Allen Hill Road died early Tuesday morning, February 6, 2018 in the comfort of her home with her husband at her side.

Linn was born in Brattleboro on May 18, 1942 the daughter of Gordon and Pauline (Makarevic) Hatfield, Sr. She attended schools in Ashuelot and Winchester and was a graduate of Thayer High School, Class of 1960.

She had been employed by the US Postal Service working in the Ashuelot Post Office where she retired from in 2004 following over 20 faithful years with the post office. Previously she worked as a store clerk for several Brattleboro merchants that included Bakers Inc. Clapp’s Sporting Goods and Galanes’s Sport Shop.

Linn served as a trustee for the Thayer Library in Ashuelot for over 30 years, a position she thoroughly enjoyed.

On October 27, 1962 at Saint Michael’s Church in Ashuelot she was married to Hubert L. Crowell who survives.

Besides her faithful and devoted husband of 55 years she leaves one brother, Gordon Hatfield, Jr and his wife Phyllis of Winchester, a sister, Carole Vogeley and her husband William of Chesterfield, nephew Edward Lake and wife Donna of Acworth, NH, her nephew Michael Vogeley and wife Shelley of Goffstown, NH, her niece Kelly Mosher and husband Brian of Sanford, ME, her niece Allison Fissette and husband Dan of Westmoreland, NH, an uncle and aunt, Stan and Betty Makarevic of Toms River, NJ, and nieces and nephews in NJ and FL that include, Stanley, Diane, twins Betty and Jennie, Lynn and Mike.

Additionally, she leaves a sister in law Lorraine Burdo of Hinsdale and nephews Rich, Ron, Dou and their wives, and a nephew Vincent Crown of Hinsdale.

Other survivors include her longtime close friend from grade school, Martha (Smith) Zuverino and many other friends and classmates.
