Obituary

Townshend- Elaine A. Robinson, 79, a longtime resident of Newfane and more recently of Hudson, Florida died peacefully Sunday morning, June 16, 2019 at Grace Cottage Hospital with her family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer.

Elaine was born in Montpelier, Vermont on July 4, 1939 the daughter of Clarence and Eunice (Goden) Aither. She was raised in Jamaica where she attended school later graduating from Leland & Gray Seminary in Townshend, Class of 1957.

Elaine spent 20 years supporting her loving husband while he served our country and made every deployment a safe and loving home. There was nothing more important to Elaine than her family. Her life centered around them as they meant the world to her and she opened her arms and heart for everyone who joined the family. Elaine devoted herself to supporting and encouraging the ones she loved, traveling long distances to witness her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they participated in various activities. She enjoyed crafting, including ceramics and quilting. She was known for her beautiful quilts made for all of her children and grandchildren. She filled her loved ones homes with many lovingly home crafted items. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family as well as spending time with them in her home.

On April 5, 1958 in Jamaica, Vermont she was married to Bernard W. Robinson.

Besides her faithful and devoted husband of 61 years she leaves: three sons, Michael of Newport Richey, Florida, Douglas of Orford, New Hampshire and Kenneth of Newfane; two daughters, Jeanette Perra, of Brattleboro and Julie Glover, of Monroe, Virginia; two sisters, Carol Hodge of Londonderry, Vermont, and Cheryl DeChamps of Okeechobee, Florida.

Additionally, she is survived by 16 grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. All of whom were a great source of pride and joy to her.

She was predeceased by one brother, Stuart Aither and a sister, Marjorie Cook.

Graveside services will be private for the immediate family only. Elaine will be laid to rest in the family lot in Woodlawn Cemetery in Newfane.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Elaine’s name may be made to Grace Cottage Hospital, 185 Grafton Road, Townshend, VT 05353.
