Brattleboro- Gregory David, “Greg” Propster, 81, of Morningside Commons, formerly of Upper Dummerston Road, a resident of the Brattleboro area since 1983 died unexpectedly Friday, July 27, 2018 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

Mr. Propster was born in Buffalo, New York on May 24, 1937, the son of James and Frances (Murawski) Propster. He was raised and educated in Buffalo graduating from Canisius Catholic High School with the Class of 1954. He went on to attend Canisius College in Buffalo receiving his BS degree in Chemical Engineering in 1961. While at Canisius he was active in the college’s glee club.

He had been employed as a marketing director for many technology companies that included, Janos Optical, Omega Optical, Buck Scientific, Wilks Scientific and Whitney-Blake just to name a few.

Active civically, he served in several capacities for the Morningside Commons Association, and was co-founder of Brattleboro Senior Meals, Inc. of which he also served on its advisory board. Mr. Propster enjoyed music and singing, and for many years was an active member of Barbershop Harmony Society.

A devout Catholic, he was a longtime communicant of Saint Michael Roman Catholic Church.

Of his leisure time activities, he enjoyed fishing, cooking and riding his red scooter around Brattleboro. He was a great story teller, tour guide and was known for his spirit of friendship and wisdom.

On August 31, 1957 at Christ the King Church in Snyder, New York he was married to Patricia Andres who survives.

Besides his faithful and devoted wife of 60 years he leaves three sons, Mark (Debbie) Propster of Hinsdale, John (Pam) Propster of Palermo, New York, G. David Propster, II of Burlington and one daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” (George) Hoppen of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Additionally, he is survived by six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Michael Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Justin Baker, pastor, celebrant. Committal rites and burial will follow in the Propster lot in Morningside Cemetery.

Friends are invited to call at the Atamaniuk Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 6 P.M.
